About Alex

How Malta became home

I moved to Malta in 2015 thinking I was simply starting a new chapter. What I didn’t expect was to completely fall in love with this tiny island in the middle of the Mediterranean. The sunshine, the sea, the lifestyle, the energy… Malta just felt right. And very quickly, I knew I wanted to stay.

Then, in 2021, I thought: why not share everything I’ve learned about living here? And that’s how Alex in Malta began.

Since then, I’ve been exploring, filming, talking (a lot 😄) and sharing literally everything Malta — from travel tips and places you shouldn’t miss, to relocation advice, local life, events, hidden gems and the occasional “only in Malta” moment.

After more than a decade of calling Malta home, I still love discovering new sides of the island and, even more, sharing them with you.

So whether you’re coming for a weekend, planning your next holiday, thinking about moving here, or you’re already lucky enough to call Malta home…

No mailing list. Used only to answer you.

Cookies

Nothing is set unless you accept. The site itself sets no cookies at all. If you press Accept, Google Analytics is loaded and sets its own so we can see which pages people read and where they arrive from. If you press Reject, it is never loaded — not the script, not a request, nothing.

There is no advertising, no tracking across other websites and no profiling. You can change your answer at any time with the Cookie choice link at the foot of the page.

Three embedded services do set their own, and only when the part of the page that uses them loads:

YouTubeThe videos, including the one at the top of the page. Loaded through youtube-nocookie.com, which is the privacy-preserving version, but playing a video still lets YouTube store data on your device.
CalendlyThe booking calendar in the consultancy section. Loaded only when you scroll to it, and it sets cookies to remember a booking in progress.
StripeThe payment form, loaded only if you press Buy. Its cookies are used to detect fraud and are necessary for a card payment to work at all.

Web fonts are served by Google Fonts, which sets no cookies but does see your IP address in order to send the font files.

To refuse any of this, block third-party cookies in your browser or use its private mode. The written parts of the site work normally without them; the videos, the calendar and the checkout will not.

Privacy

Alex in Malta is run by Aleksandar Vasilevski in Malta. This explains what happens to anything you send.

If you use the contact form

Your name, email address, subject and message are emailed to contact@alexinmalta.com and nowhere else. Your IP address is included so that abuse can be traced. Nothing is added to a mailing list, and nothing is sold or shared. The email is kept for as long as the conversation is useful.

If you buy the guide book

The payment is handled entirely by Stripe. No card details ever reach this website — the form belongs to Stripe and is shown inside their own frame. Stripe holds the payment record; see their privacy policy for what that means.

What is stored here is small: your email address, your name if the payment gave one, the amount, and a one-time download link. It is kept while the link is live, which is thirty days, and then automatically deleted. The receipt is sent through Brevo, which processes it on our behalf.

If you book a call

The calendar is Calendly’s and whatever you type into it goes to them and to Alex. It does not pass through this website.

What is never done

No advertising. No tracking across other websites. No profiling. Nothing you send is sold or shared, and there is no mailing list to be added to without asking.

Analytics only if you accept it. Google Analytics is loaded when, and only when, you press Accept on the cookie notice; it records which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from, never who you are. Press Reject and it is never loaded. You can change your mind with the Cookie choice link at the foot of the page.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email contact@alexinmalta.com and it will be dealt with. If you are unhappy with the answer you can complain to the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta.
